TAKING MY OWN F-ING ADVICE TUESDAYS

I often hear clients say to me they want something new in life. Either a job, a workout routine, to lose weight or have a better relationship with a friend, partner, parent, or child.

It is in those conversations where we explore a bit more about how important that truly is. We can talk about how important it is, but when it comes down to implementing changes, how bad do you want it?

Today’s taking my own f#$%ing advice Tuesday is brought to you by my lack of commitment to creating better habits and routines.

Are you willing to let go of free time filled with Netflix binges to take that course to advance your career or learn a new skill? Are you willing to set aside the alcohol, cookies, and cheese to reach a goal for your body and mind?  Do you want to set aside time from being on your phone or playing video games to have that video call with your friend or parent?

With each change we make we must be willing to let go of a current commitment we have made… and it may be a habit or routine we don’t realize we have made. We need to commit to changing routines, habits and maybe even forfeit the way we spend our free time to implement something new.

This is where the hard work comes in. Are we willing to let go of what is comfortable and easy to have the thing we believe we really want? Do we even really want it? Or is it something we have been told we should want?

(Remember not to ‘should’ on yourself.)

I have done an inventory on my life in the last several weeks which may be the reason why I referenced alcohol, cookies, and cheese – though I think cookies should be replaced with ice cream and chocolate! Ha! I had to ask myself if I was truly willing to give these things up.

The good news is I am.

I am willing to let go of these and have an apple and peanut butter, veggies and lean protein. I am willing to commit to feeding my body nutritious food and moving it each day. This is good for my mental health and how I feel.  I know this… and yet I can let it slide because I have taught myself to believe that the bowl of ice cream will make me feel better. Same as not working out, sometimes watching a show has more appeal, but I can workout AND watch the show. See what I am getting at?

There is always give and take in universal law. We cannot sit and wish for things to be delivered or manifested without doing the work that needs to be completed.

Let me leave you with this to stir your thoughts: To reach for something greater you must be willing to let go of what is in your hand.

And remember, if you want a partner who will push, pull, encourage, and cheer you on there is always room for you to work with me on redefining your Brave Path.

With gratitude,

Liz
